LIAT KEDEM
Liat Kedem is a CALD Australian–Lebanese–Estonian dance artist working as an independent dancer, choreographer, teacher and movement director. Based in Melbourne/Naarm, her practice spans contemporary performance, creation and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Her work is an expression of femininity and diversity, exploring the mundane and the profound within the socio-economic realities that separate and connect us. Liat is committed to making dance accessible, challenging the opaqueness of some contemporary practice in the belief that clarity, intelligence and relevance are essential for meaningful audience connection, and for art's capacity to create positive change.
Liat trained with the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company before dancing with Iuvenis Danza, then returned to Australia where she developed her choreographic voice while completing a Law/Arts degree across Monash University and the Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris.
She has worked across Australia, France, Israel, Italy, Switzerland and Sri Lanka, collaborating and performing in independent and company contexts with artists including Jill Crovisier, Lewis Major Projects, Allison Currie, Daniel Jaber and Lina Limosani. She continues to work independently across South Australia and Victoria.
